Developing and managing know-how

At LM Glasfiber, we consider it very important to have the right people at all levels. We work together to develop the company’s skills by focusing on personal development within our specific areas of responsibility. We regard developing and managing know-how as a competitive parameter that is crucial for maintaining our leading position within this industry.

LM Glasfiber is an international company that focuses on a highly specialised technology. This has an influence on our day-to-day work:

We move the boundaries

“The work is exciting and provides real professional challenge, because we always move the boundaries for what previously been regarded as technically possible. At same time, the company has a young image. On average, our engineers are only just over 30.”

This is how Torben Jacobsen – MSc in engineering and team leader – describes his work in the R&D department.

Lars Fuglsang also holds an MSc in engineering and works as team leader. He explains:

"At the same time LM Glasfiber is an organisation with lots of room for initiative and trying things on your own. The company even has the facilities to try out new solutions which means that, as an employee, you're continuously learning something new to develop your knowledge."

Lars and Torben have similar educational backgrounds, but they work in two very different fields. Lars develops design tools and blade structure, while Torben works with increasing the rigidity and strength of the composite materials the blades are made of.

LM Glasfiber has a large R&D organisation, with a staff of more than 150. The company has more specialist knowledge than any other blade manufacturer in the world - primarily in fields that include aerodynamics, blade construction, materials and manufacturing processes. The global manufacturing and service operations are based on systematic technology transfer and quality assurance procedures. We operate manufacturing and sales companies in Asia, North America, Northern Europe and Southern Europe.

“For me, LM Glasfiber’s international presence and focus are important,” says mechanical engineer Rikke Balle. “I’ve been abroad several times to help implement new production methods, and am in touch with our subsidiaries or customers from abroad every day. Another decisive factor for me when I chose to work at LM Glasfiber was that wind power is a ‘green’ source of energy.”

Rikke works in our blade engineering department, which is responsible for the manufacturing of blades at all our factories.
